πŸ•³ Data Gap Detector

India's unique civic-tech feature. Paste any government dataset (CSV text, data.gov.in resource ID, or an open JSON URL). We scan for missing years, empty columns, stale data, missing states or districts. For every gap, we auto-draft the RTI to fill it.

How it works: Detection rules β€” (1) time-series breaks, (2) columns where >30% values are null, (3) "Last updated" older than 24 months, (4) Indian states/districts missing from a supposed nationwide dataset, (5) suspiciously round numbers suggesting manual rounding. For each finding, a targeted RTI to the dataset's custodian.
We analyse up to 10,000 rows client-side, nothing leaves your browser for the CSV path.
Samples:
Find this in the resource URL on data.gov.in. The sample key returns max 10 rows β€” a real key (free) returns more.
URL must be publicly accessible and return JSON array or CSV. Goes through our caching proxy.

Why this matters

The National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy, 2012 and the RTI Act Β§4 both require proactive disclosure of government data β€” current, complete, machine-readable. In practice, data.gov.in has thousands of datasets that stop at 2015, or skip states, or have "Total" but no disaggregation. Each such gap is a citizen-right grievance. This tool turns gaps into filed RTIs.
