Where does the PIN data come from?

India Post's official public API at api.postalpincode.in. Free, no key, updated by the Department of Posts.

Why doesn't it show hospital / school count for my PIN?

Hospital and school directories live in different APIs (NHM IPHS / UDISE+) which require a data.gov.in key. We draft an RTI for you to file in the meantime — see the "Take action" panel after lookup.

Can I file RTI to the postal department?
