Modes of payment
**Central / rtionline.gov.in** — UPI, debit/credit card, net banking. Online payment completes instantly; SMS/email receipt with registration number.
**State portals** — mostly online (UPI/card/net-banking) where enabled. Offline via Indian Postal Order (IPO) in favour of "The Accounts Officer, [Department]" or court-fee stamps on paper.
**Local bodies** — usually cash or IPO in person; some larger corporations (BMC, BBMP, PMC) accept online.
**BPL exemption** — full waiver on production of valid BPL certificate. No additional proof may be demanded.
