One-line summary. righttoinformation.wiki (the “Site”) is a free, open, non-commercial reference work on the Right to Information Act, 2005 and Indian transparency law. Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, medical, professional, or tax advice. Users should consult a qualified professional before relying on any information here for a real decision. The Site's content is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Use is at your own risk.

1. Nature of the Site

The Site is maintained by BigHelpers Software & Solutions Private Limited (the “Publisher”). It publishes encyclopaedic content on:

  • The Right to Information Act, 2005, its Rules, amendments, and case law.
  • Central and State Information Commission orders, Supreme Court and High Court judgments.
  • Guides, templates, samples and how-tos aimed at Indian citizens who wish to exercise their right to information.
  • Data-driven analyses of RTI implementation, performance of public authorities, and transparency trends.

The Site is not a law firm, a legal-services provider, a government agency, or a professional advisory service. It does not take instructions, accept retainers, or represent any user in a legal or quasi-legal proceeding.

Content on the Site — including articles, sample RTI applications, reply templates, case summaries, FAQs, blog posts, and AI-generated drafts — is provided for general information and educational purposes only. It is not tailored to any specific person, fact pattern, or cause of action.

  • Do not treat the Site's content as a substitute for advice from an advocate, chartered accountant, company secretary, or other qualified professional.
  • Always verify the current position of the law, current rules, current fee schedule, and current state-specific procedures before filing any application, appeal, or representation.
  • RTI law and practice change. Central and state rules are amended frequently; Information Commissions and courts issue new rulings regularly; the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its 2025 Rules have altered the exemption landscape. The Site endeavours to stay current, but lag is possible.

No lawyer–client, fiduciary, or professional relationship is formed by reading the Site, using its templates, or filing an RTI drafted with its AI tools. The Site gives no guarantee about the outcome of any RTI application, appeal, writ, consumer complaint, or other legal action.

3. Accuracy and currency

The Site's editorial team reviews content periodically (each article carries a “Last reviewed” date). Nevertheless:

  • Statutory citations, section numbers, clause references, and judgment citations should be cross-verified against primary sources (Gazette of India, cic.gov.in, indiankanoon.org, official state RTI portals) before use in formal proceedings.
  • Third-party data (for example, CIC Annual Reports, Satark Nagrik Sangathan report cards, CHRI analyses) is quoted from the sources cited on each page; readers should consult the primary report for precise, formal citation.
  • Numerical figures, deadlines, fees, and turnarounds are drawn from the best publicly reported sources at the date of review; they can change without notice.
  • Broken or moved URLs: external links may expire; please report them via admin@bighelpers.in and we will update.

If you find an error, please email admin@bighelpers.in with the page URL, the nature of the error, and (if possible) a source for the correct position. Verified corrections are made within 7 working days and logged in the page's edit history.

4. Templates, sample applications, and AI-generated content

  • Sample RTI applications, First-Appeal and Second-Appeal templates, and PIO reply formats are drafting aids. They are not filled-in legal instruments. Users must adapt them to the facts of their case.
  • The Site's AI drafting tool (AI to draft your RTI) generates text based on user inputs. The output is not reviewed by a lawyer. Users are solely responsible for the final content of anything they submit to a public authority or court.
  • The Site does not store the content of RTI applications drafted with its tool beyond the immediate session, except aggregated, non-identifying usage metrics. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • The Site links to third-party websites — government portals, legal databases, news outlets, civil-society resources, and academic sources — for the convenience of readers.
  • The Publisher does not endorse the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site.
  • Users click external links at their own risk. The Publisher is not responsible for any damage, loss, or liability arising from content, products, or services accessed through an external link.
  • Third-party content appearing on the Site (logos, screenshots, excerpts) remains the property of its respective owners and is reproduced under fair use for commentary, criticism, and non-commercial reference purposes.

6. User-generated content and community contributions

  • Where the Site accepts comments, bookmarks, saved lists, or other user-generated content, such content represents the view of the contributor and not of the Publisher.
  • The Publisher reserves the right to remove, edit, or decline to publish user content that is illegal, defamatory, discriminatory, infringing, or otherwise inconsistent with the Site's editorial standards.
  • By submitting content to the Site, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that you grant the Publisher a non-exclusive licence to display it on the Site under the GNU Free Documentation Licence, 1.3 (GFDL).
